Tony . s first full-length for Grand Central (though he had been producing singles for the label for several years) is that rare work of instrumental hip-hop - an album of unvaried mid-tempo beats and stoned grooves which actually succeeds despite the lack of rapping. The addition of beatmeisters Spikey T, Mr. Scruff, and Buffy Brox make Pound for Pound a satisfying success.

Mark Rae's fact finding mission to New York in 1995 brought back Tony D. , his type of hip hop was perfect for GC. As a white rapper from New Jersey rather than New York in an evolving genre, UK based GC had less preconceived notions which allowed Tony D To drop a top notch hip hop album. This album has stood the test of time and is maturing rather nicely thankyou. A truly transatlantic and consistent hip-hop album featuring vocal talent such as Lorna Harris, Spikey T, Veba and Buffy Brox Also contains Veba's colloboration on the gorgeous James Bond worthy 'Don't Wanna Lose You', and instrumental favourite 'Piano Grand'.
