Stormbringer! is a 1970 album released by John and Beverley Martyn. It has no connection to Michael Moorcock's 1965 Elric novel of the same name. John Martyn wrote six of the ten songs and Beverley four. The album was recorded under the direction of Paul Harris in Woodstock, New York. Two of the tracks feature the drumming of Levon Helm, from the Band – who had an influence on John Martyn's music. All tracks composed by John Martyn except where indicated.

Beverley Martyn comes from Coventry, sang with a jug band, made two singles, met John. John & Beverley went to America summer of 1969, met Paul Harris and made Stormbringer! You may obtain further information by playing this record. Catalog numbers:, Sleeve: ILPS 9113, Label: ILPS-9113.

John and Beverley Martyn's classic album from 1970 has now been digitally remastered from the original master tapes and has been expanded with four previously unreleased Demos recorded at Sound Techniques, Chelsea on 16th April 1969. Having previously recorded two solo albums (London Conversation and the Tumbler) John Martyn teamed up with his wife Beverley to record Stormbringer. Still very much in the folkish vein, some of the stand out tracks include 'Go Out' and 'Get It' (featured on the fantastic Island sampler LP Bumpers) plus the title track.

Martyn's first album with his wife Beverley ne Kutner in tow, after two "solo" albums, Stormbringer does have the merit to have John evolve his musical realm into a rockier atmosphere. Beverley was no amateur as she'd already worked with producer Joe Boyd, appeared at the Monterey Pop Festival in the summer of 67, she was a friend of Paul Simon and a London "local glory" and they met in Jan 69 and married fairly quickly.

John Martyn, Beverley Martyn. Download MP3. John Martyn. Time has gone by The calendar leaves and snows fly I might write a poem If I could think of the words to try What is there to remember? The winter was December Just one more year left behind. She never looked around to see me She never looked around at all All I saw was the shadows on the wall She never looked around to see me Oh, she never looked around at all All I heard was the snow that had to fall. She left in the morning Quietly that was her way And on returning I find I have nothing to say What is there to remember?

The Making Of Solid Air By John Martyn. The album’s best-known song might be the gently swinging May You Never – covered by everyone from Eric Clapton to Wet Wet Wet – but it’s the smoked-out six-minute opener that truly maps Martyn’s evolution from talented Scottish folkie to genre-busting maverick. Drake would babysit for Martyn and his wife Beverley when they were living in Hampstead, and when the family moved to Hastings he would still visit occasionally.

For Stormbringer!, John and Beverley Martyn went to Woodstock, NY, and recorded with several local musicians, including session hands Paul Harris and Harvey Brooks, as well as the Band's Levon Helm. Very much in the mold of the electric Fairport Convention of this period, Stormbringer! sizzles with acoustic interplay and an almost jazzy feel. Highlights include "Woodstock" (not the Joni Mitchell tune) and the title track.
