Jay Z, Rihanna and Kanye West collaborator Willo Perron & Associates has created the album cover for Jared Leto and his band Thirty Seconds To Mars’ latest release America, with art director Brian Roettinger heading up the design. The stripped-back, type-based artwork comes in multiple iterations, each displaying different lists of American names, brands, items and concepts drawn from surveys and stats.
Thirty Seconds to Mars' maximalist rock has always been a vehicle for big ideas: Jared Leto and crew explore themes of war and peace, sexuality, freedom, and faith through concept albums and glossy videos. But the widescreen focus of AMERICA may provide the group's broadest statement yet. In an attempt to survey, as he put it, "the good, bad, and the ugly" about his homeland, Leto even hitchhiked cross-country to promote the record.
It is not fake news: Thirty Seconds to Mars are back! Ready to paint a diverse yet catchy picture, America arrives on Friday, April 6, 2018, thanks to Interscope Records. Formed in Los Angeles, California, around 1998, by brothers Jared and Shannon Leto, Thirty Seconds to Mars (sometimes stylized 30 Seconds to Mars) would release their debut album, 2002’s self-titled 30 Seconds to Mars, to nearly immediate fanfare. While the Documentary is not due out until later in 2018, thankfully, fans need not wait any longer for America, the album. Returning with their fifth studio offering, Thirty Seconds to Mars – umentalist Jared Leto, Percussionist Shannon Leto and rumentalist Tomo Milicevic – present the twelve-track America.
