At the height of his success, in the 1970s, Robert Stigwood, who has died aged 81, was the entertainment industry’s most powerful tycoon. Stigwood owned the record label that issued his artists’ albums and film soundtracks, and he also controlled publishing rights – not since Hollywood’s golden days had so much power and wealth been concentrated in the hands of one mogul.

Best of Bee Gees is a 1969 compilation album by the English rock band Bee Gees. It was their first international greatest hits album. It featured their singles from 1966-1969 with the exception of the band's 1968 single "Jumbo". The following songs in this compilation from 1966-1969 was very popular worldwide and was picked up by many casual fans who owned no other Bee Gees album. It includes the US singles "Holiday" and "I Started a Joke".

After touring the Bee Gees now worked quickly to complete another album. They started with a song by Robin (his last solo composition until 1999!), and then one of the songs Barry did on his fan club recording from 1971. The last song is unknown.
