Bonnie Raitt, ‘Give It Up’. Warner Bros. California darling Raitt headed to Woodstock to cut her second LP – only to face near-monsoon weather. The newly wed superstar gets personal on adult love songs such as "One Step Up" and "Walk Like a Ma. The marriage didn't last – but the music does.
Albert Washington's Blues And Soul Man (ACE was drawn from his Fraternity and Jewel recordings and showed him to be a top drawer vocalist/guitarist. In 1973, he traveled down to Memphis to record Sad And Lonely for Eastbound Records with the Memphis Horns. The result was prime southern soul, funk and blues. This rare album has now attained cult status and is reissued here on CD for the first time, with one bonus track - the previously unissued Steal Away. Respected author Steve Tracy contributes an affectionate note giving the full background to these sessions.
