It’s amazing how many great soul groups came out of Philadelphia during the early and mid-1970s. In spite of occasional brushes with success, Blue Magic fits into that latter pool perfectly. Formed in 1972, Blue Magic featured the talents of Keith Beaton, Theodore Mills, Richard Pratt and brothers Vernon and Wendell Sawyer. Mills had previously attracted some attention as a singer/songwriter, while the others had been in the Philly group Shades of Love.

Blue Magic – It's Like Magic lyrics. My heart flew around On a silver lining Riding on a cloud Changes go around And the hurt is over Because of changing time Suddenly I looked into your eyes I can see Feelings that you have deep inside Just like me I'm so glad that you are here to stay. It's like magic when you came You make me so happy and I'll never be the same It's like magic when you came You make me so happy and I'll never be the same
It was first released on the album Blue Magic and when issued as a single it sold over a million copies, going to R&B and pop in the United States in the summer of 1974. Billboard ranked it as the No. 19 song for 1974. It was covered as a reggae version by Barry Biggs who reached on the UK Singles Chart in January 1977. The song is noted for its introduction, featuring a repeat of the first 10 notes of a slow version of Julius Fucik’s Entrance of the Gladiators while one of the band’s members acts like a master of ceremonies, declaring: Hurry!! Hurry!!! Step right up!
