Complete your Holst, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Zubin Mehta collection. I have this version, but it comes with the Speakers Corners catalogue for 2011. So I guess there's been a repressing around that time.

2. Venus, the Bringer of Peace. Zubin Mehta, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. 3. Mercury, the Winged Messenger. 4. Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity. 5. Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age. Gustav Holst.

Orchestra: Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Zubin Mehta during his tenure as the Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic proved his mettle with the grand pieces and no where was he as brazenly successful as in this recording which dates back to 1971 (when it was originally in combination with the Star Wars extravaganza and even Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra the various recording dates were between 1968, 1971

This is simply a fantastic performance and recording of Holst's masterpiece! And the vinyl has great dynamics. Thinking of buying the new 45 rpm version, as I've played this record so many times that it's starting to wear a bit.

mtrot, There are three options of vinyl pressings available of Mehta and the LA Philharmonic; a Decca remaster (presumably digital, as a download card is included), an AAA remaster and repress from Speakers Corner, and the 45rpm remaster and repress from ORG. I just went for the Speakers Corner. The ORG pressing is out of print and going up in price.
