30 Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2018. This year saw releases from rap’s biggest names, but it still felt like a changing of the guard for the genre. Various Artists, ‘Black Panther: The Album’. It would be an odd sort of tragedy if this were the album that won Kendrick Lamar his Album of the Year Grammy. It’s not his best album; it’s barely even his album, what with him ceding the spotlight to the rappers he’s excited by whenever he gets the chance.

A double album (or double record) is an audio album which spans two units of the primary medium in which it is sold, typically records and compact disc. A double album is usually, though not always, released as such because the recording is longer than the capacity of the medium.

When hip-hop developed in New York, teams of girls would double dutch in the middle of dancing crowds at clubs, an element of the culture that has been lost along the wa. Freddy was the original hip-hop impresario who organized that very first rap tour not long before he solidified the concept of hip-hop with his 1983 movie Wild Style. fit perfectly with the tour and it was a great element. That was the big bright moment regarding putting it all under the umbrella of hip-hop. But today double dutch has disappeared from hip-hop consciousness. It pops up sporadically in creepy Angel Haze videos, during a Pharrell–Missy Elliott performances at the BET awards, or as a minor motif in movies dedicated to New York City like Top Five

With a name like The Ultimate Hip Hop Album, this three-disc compilation is already setting itself up for inevitable failure. And sadly, albeit predictably, while there are some good tracks here (Dr. Dre and Ice Cube's "Natural Born Killaz," Nate Dogg and Warren G's "Regulate"), there's a lot of filler here to, both from known artists and unknown.

: to my taste, one of Holland's finest moments in hiphop, deeeep poetic stuff... Empress's track was played by the now defunct "Sun FM" a Rotterdam based local radio station. Kind of below the radar when it was released, kind of ignored today due to the succes of commercial hiphop but maybe it will be re-discovered again by your kids.
