The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 musical horror comedy film by 20th Century Fox produced by Lou Adler and Michael White and directed by Jim Sharman. The screenplay was written by Sharman and actor Richard O'Brien, who is also a member of the cast. The film is based on the 1973 musical stage production The Rocky Horror Show, with music, book, and lyrics by O'Brien. The production is a parody tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s through to the early 1960s
The Rocky Horror Show - not The Rocky Horror Picture Show (that's a film, folks, not a live musical)- is the best recording of this whacky and fun musical. Love this stage cast album. Did not realize Tim Curry starred in the original stage production. The songs sound very different from the movie, but that's what gives it all the charm.

The Rocky Horror Show is a stage musical which started it all, created by Richard O'Brien (writer of the book, music, and lyrics). It first opened in London on June 19th, 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, a tiny 60-seat venue. After a very successful four weeks, it transferred to the Chelsea Classic Cinema and then other locations for an initial run of 2,960 performances in London through 1980. It also had a highly successful American run at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, produced by Lou Adler and featuring both Tim Curry as Frank and Meat Loaf as Eddie/Dr.

Contact Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show on Messenger. nce shouting out obscenities to the actors. Spoiled it for a lot of people. Obviously never heard of theatre etiquette. The audience participation is nothing like you’ve seen before in any other show and the costumes are second to none.
