The terms symphony orchestra and philharmonic orchestra may be used to distinguish different ensembles from the same locality, such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Apart from the core orchestral complement, various other instruments are called for occasionally. These include the flugelhorn and cornet. These performers are not typically permanent orchestra members. They are typically freelancers hired on contract for one or more concerts.
Berlioz: Complete Orchestral Works. Berlioz was the first Romantic master of the orchestra. His music hasn't been surpassed in terms of sheer brilliance and accuracy of effect. This set includes all of the overtures, the Symphonie fantastique, Harold in Italy, the Royal Hunt and Storm from Les Troyens, orchestral music from The Damnation of Faust and Romeo and Juliet, and the completely insane Grande Symphonie funebre et triumphale. From the overtures to the various symphonic compositions to excerpts from Les Troyens, they're all here in vibrant and persuasive performances. Note: The recording of the Symphonie fantastique is the one Davis made with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. And it takes up less than an inch on the shelf, with notes included.
This two-CD set contains excellent recordings of Rimsky-Korsakov's best orchestral works (aside from Scheherazade, which they assume you already have) in y digital sound. The Cappricio Espagnole is probably the best recording I've ever heard of this work, with perfect tempos and a colorful orchestral pallette. The sound quality here is really outstanding. The Suite for Variety Orchestra (post-1956) is a suite in eight movements by Dmitri Shostakovich. The work consists of a collection of movements which derive from other works by the composer. It is also named Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra, for example in Derek Hulme's Shostakovich catalogue
The Orchestra is by no means the biggest orchestral library around. In fact, its bundled content pales in comparison to that of other libraries in terms of scope and grandeur. But the addition of the Ensemble Engine definitely gives The Orchestra an edge when it comes to idea generation. Like some of the other orchestral plugins mentioned in this list, Gravity works with Kontakt Player . or later, which is good if you’re already familiar with the ubiquitous sampler. The plugin can run in either standalone mode or VST, and supports AAX, AU, RTAS, and DXi.
The Beating Orchestra. METROPOLIS ARK 4. Elite Orchestral Forces. Works with the free Kontakt Player or Kontakt . The Orchestral Grands brings you two masterpiece Grand Pianos, the Steinway D and the Steinway B. Both are positioned for orchestral use and have been recorded at one of the best sounding scoring stages, the Teldex Scoring Stage in Berlin. These wonderful pianos are ready to bring wonderful additional colors to your symphonic compositions. We took great care about the placement of these instruments, capturing the marvelous acoustics of the stage in its wonderful depths and shimmering heights. Many round robins on sustains and staccatos.
