Sextette From Hunger - Harmony Rag / At The Jazz Band Ball download mp3 album
TITLE Harmony Rag, At The Jazz Band Ball. Condition Used - Good.
It is one of the most recorded jazz compositions. In 2003, the 1918 recording of "Tiger Rag" was entered into the . Library of Congress National Recording Registry. The song was first recorded on August 17, 1917 by the Original Dixieland Jass Band for Aeolian-Vocalion Records. The band did not use the "Jazz" spelling in its name until 1917.

The repertoire on this disc is a broad mix of popular tunes ("Take Me To The Land Of Jazz"), novelties ("Do You Take This Woman For Your Lawful Wedded Wife?"), exotica ("Dengozo" and "Egyptia") ragtime ("Kinklets" and "Palm Leaf Rag"), folk influence ("Red Wing"), classical pastiche ("Lucy's Sextette") and early Jazz and minstrel ("That's A-Plenty"). While the sound and balance of the group is clearly of prime concern, short solos crop up here and there, with Pinsker being the most featured (he even has an entirely solo turn on Eubie Blake's "Baltimore Todolo" - unfortunately on what sounds like an electronic piano. For me the most interesting tune is "Egyptia" which was used as theme music for Bill Johnson's Original Creole Orchestra from New Orleans (including Freddie Keppard and, at different times, Jimmie Noone and "Big Eye" Louis Nelson DeLisle).
Boisterous Cheerful Confident Energetic Exuberant Joyous Playful Carefree Fun Rollicking. Celebration Relaxation. Original Dixieland Jazz Band. At the Jazz Band Ball. Sensation Rag. Eddie Edwards.
