Air Raid is the second album by the improvisational collective Air featuring Henry Threadgill, Steve McCall, and Fred Hopkins performing four of Threadgill's compositions. The album was originally released on the Japanese Why Not label in 1976 and later released in the . on India Navigation in 1984.

Air raid may refer to: Airstrike. Air Raid (album), by the improvisational collective Air. Air Raid (Transformers), the name of three characters in the Transformers universes. Air Raid (video game), a rare 1984 game for the Atari 2600. Air Raid (1978 video game), a 1978 video game for the TRS-80. Air Raid, a 1977 John Varley short story which provided the basis for the 1989 film Millennium. Air raid offense, a pass-oriented form of the spread offense in American football.

The critical success of Air's debut album, Air Song, dictated both more of the same and a difference in approach on Air Raid. While there are only four tracks, just as on the first album, here they are broken up between two long pieces - the title track and "Release," and two mid-length, seven-plus minute works, "Midnight Sun" and "Through a Keyhole Darkly. The concept of group improvisation was the same, but Henry Threadgill's compositional notions began to come through in his solos.

Atlanta-based melodic rock band Air Raid recorded their self-titled debut album in 1980. The band was influenced by Led Zeppelin and Procol Harum, but had a pop-oriented sound that recalls Styx, Touch and Queen. The Air Raid debut album was produced by the legendary Eddie Kramer (KISS, Led Zeppelin), and is definitely a product of its time. There's a touch of late 70's progressive rock on songs like "Mystery Man", "Soldiers of Fortune" (which sounds like a Styx single) and "Longships", but those songs are balanced by pure pop numbers like "Lovewave" and "Love the Way You Look To-Nite".Label support for the band was non-existent, and changing musical trends made it tough for the band to gain any real airplay. The band members parted ways soon after the album's release. At this point, the Air Raid debut is more a curiosity piece than anything else. Still, serious followers of late 70's and early 80's melodic rock will want to check it out, especially now that it is available on CD.Reissue Notes: It took 25 years, but Air Raid's self-titled debut finally made it to CD in 2006. The reissue features digitally remastered sound and expanded liner notes by vocalist/keyboardist/songwriter Arthur Offen. It's a shame he didn't include some of the demo recordings for the unreleased follow-up album, as those would have made for some interesting bonus tracks.
