I first discovered Earl Scruggs as a wee lad in the 70s. One night I came across a TV show I’d never before seen called Austin City Limits. It turned out that three of the five longhairs were the sons of Earl the banjo player.

Earl Eugene Scruggs (January 6, 1924 – March 28, 2012) was an American musician noted for popularizing a three-finger banjo picking style, now called "Scruggs style," which is a defining characteristic of bluegrass music. Audio CD, Import, Original recording remastered, August 1, 2005. The music is just fun and fresh and has an appeal that spans many tastes. This album gives me the feeling of sitting-in on a jam session of old friends who are having one heck of a good time. 3 people found this helpful.
