Wet Wet Wet Format: Vinyl. Popped In Souled Out. "Please retry". Popped In Souled Out (30th Anniversary). and I mean that as a massive compliment! January 18, 2007. Format: Audio CD. Definitely one of the best ever "pop" albums of all time. There is not a weak song on the album. Notice I say album and not disc. takes me back to when I was in my twenties and would play this record before I went out for a night clubbing on the town.

Wet Wet Wet bassist Graeme Clark promises a run of special live shows to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough album, Popped In Souled Ou. Critical awards, including a Brit for Best British Newcomer, and another hit single from the album, ‘Temptation’, were to follow, but Popped In Souled Out was to be only the start of an extraordinary three-decade story for Wet Wet Wet to date. Today, Graeme says he is incredibly proud of the album that launched them and is looking forward to presenting it live once more. We’re not going to do it chronologically from start to finish, though, he warns. We are going to mess it around a bit and include tracks from The Memphis Sessions as well

Most of the songs were midtempo including the debut single and album opener, "Wishing I Was Lucky" as well as the two follow-up singles, "Sweet Little Mystery" and "Angel Eyes. The fourth single, "Temptation," was a ballad in the style of Spandau Ballet's "Through the Barricades" and was the least successful of the tracks released as singles. Popped in Souled Out hit number two in the charts on its first week, eventually climbing to the very top at the beginning of 1988 and spending the whole of the first half of that year inside the Top Ten. During this run, they released a non-album track, "With a Little Help from My Friends," for the Childline charity, which became the band's first number one single.

Having formed in 1982 after taking their name from a line in a Scritti Politti song, the band’s first single Wishing I Was Lucky was released in 1987, which started an incredible unbroken run of 27 Top 40 hits. Their debut album Popped in Souled Out spawned three further hit singles Sweet Little Mystery, Angel Eyes (Home And Away) and Temptation
