Highway to Hell" is the opening track of AC/DC's 1979 album Highway to Hell. It was initially released as a single in 1979. AC/DC had made several studio albums before and were constantly promoting them via a grueling tour schedule, referred to by Angus Young as being on a highway to hell.

Renews automatically. One of the best, (if not THE best), works of the late Bon Scott era of AC/DC, this CD continues the beat in the line of albums including "Let There Be Rock", "Powerage", and "High Voltage". A five star classic, the highlight of course is "Highway to Hell" a major staple in all AC/DC Concerts. I just saw my fourth AC/DC concert, and this number brought the house DOWN.

It's tempting to say that Scott might have been prescient about his end - or to see the title track as ominous in the wake of his death - trying to spill it all out on paper, but it's more accurate to say that the ride had just gotten very fast and very wild for AC/DC, and he. was simply flying high.

In May 1983, Phil Rudd had a parting of the ways and was replaced by Simon Wright (drums), aged 20 then. November 1989 Simon Wright left and is replaced by Chris Slade (ex Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Uriah Heep & The Firm). In summer 1994 Phil Rudd "quietly" rejoined the band, but left again in 2015, which led to Slade's return.
