Blur is the eponymous fifth studio album by the English rock band of the same name, released on 10 February 1997 by Food Records. Blur had previously been broadly critical of American popular culture and their previous albums had become associated with the Britpop movement, particularly Parklife, which had helped them become one of Britain's leading pop acts. After their previous album, The Great Escape, the band faced media backlash and relationships between the members became strained.

After all, holiday releases by Christian artists flood the market every year, and there's plenty of stock to choose from. WOW Christmas does, indeed, capture a nice range of styles and artists from releases over the last few years. Among the sweeter moments are Michael W. Smith's new standard, "Emmanuel," Point of Grace's angelic "O Holy Night," Rebecca St. James's quirky "Sweet Little Jesus Boy," and the Mark Schultz-Nichole Nordeman gentle treatment of "Silent Night. The "Wow Christmas Red" two disc album also contains new Contemporary Christian Music Christmas songs. These include "Emmanuel" by Michael W. Smith, this song also written by Michael W. Smith, was first recorded by Amy Grant and released on her "A Christmas Album", (Word Records/Sparrow Records- 1983, 2007).

But really, the point at which Blur made that leap came when they released their second album, 1993’s Modern Life Is Rubbish. While their 1991 debut, Leisure, had produced some fine and indelible singles ( There’s No Other Way and She’s So High, of course) that cashed in on the popularity of the Madchester baggy scene, Blur changed their approach entirely and tried to produce a classic with Modern Life, a loose-concept album about being young and broke in post-Thatcher, pre-Blair. So, now that I’ve spent three paragraphs arguing against Blur as a singles band, I’m left only with the task o. icking out and ranking their 10 best songs and excluding the rest.
