Here, he's got that feeling on guitar and any other instrument you'd care to name. Pal Curtis Knight is on vocals most of the time. in person and on records. Cover: T2856 Label: T-2856. Its controversy also helped ensure that in Hendrix histories, the music on the album itself is overlooked and rarely discussed in depth. It’s actually listenable, although generic, 1960s soul/R&B/rock, with Hendrix playing well but much more conventionally than he did on his own recordings. You can hear hints of his full-blown psychedelic style, as on the wah-wah effects on Hush Now, while How Would You Feel is an obvious rewrite of Bob Dylan’s Like a Rolling Stone.

Curtis Knight (May 9, 1929 – November 29, 1999), born Mont Curtis McNear, was an American musician who is known for his connection to Jimi Hendrix. Knight was a singer in the 1960s Harlem R&B music scene, usually fronting his own band, the Squires. In 1965, with Hendrix as guitarist, he recorded some singles and demos for record producer Ed Chalpin.

Curtis Knight & The Squires-(w/Jimi Hendrix) Hornet s Nest (w/Jimi Hendrix) (RSVP). Jimi Hendrix Get That Feeling.

Eight of these tracks were issued at the end of 1967 on Get That Feeling, which - despite featuring only a picture of Hendrix, in all his 1967 glory, on the cover - only features him as a guitarist session man, with Knight actually handling the vocals. The back cover bills the LP to Jimi Hendrix and Curtis Knight, although Knight's name doesn't appear anywhere else on the sleeve

Before Jimi Hendrix went to London to become a solo recording star, he had recorded some material with journeyman soul singer Curtis Knight and signed a contract with record executive Ed Chalpin. Eight of these tracks were issued at the end of 1967 on Get That Feeling, which - despite featuring only a picture of Hendrix, in all his 1967 glory, on the cover - only features him as a guitarist session man, with Knight actually handling the vocals. It was the beginning of contractual headaches for Hendrix and his managers vs. Chalpin that would last for the rest of Hendrix's life. It's actually listenable, although generic, 1960s soul/R&B/rock, with Hendrix playing well but much more conventionally than he did on his own recordings.

Under his guidance, Hendrix formed the Jimi Hendrix Experience with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding. Chandler rushed them into the recording studio, pawning his bass guitar to help fund the group. Chandler’s faith was rewarded in December 1966 when Hey Joe became a hit in England and soon throughout Europe. Beginning with December 1967’s Get That Feeling, Chalpin began to compile and license albums featuring the master recordings Hendrix had recorded as a sideman to Knight. Get That Feeling was followed by October 1968’s Flashing. Hendrix’s burgeoning fan base was confused by the lack of liner notes or accurate cover imagery as these albums gave full artist billing to Jimi Hendrix.
