Germaine Williams (born December 9, 1974), better known by his stage name Canibus, is a Jamaican-born American rapper and actor. He initially gained fame in the 1990s for his ability to freestyle, and eventually released his debut album Can-I-Bus in 1998

He delivers punchline after punchline, ie. 'I roll up on your crew quicker than long sleeves, at a 'Speed' that would confuse Keanu Reeves' ("How We Roll") Canibus shows some versatility, as he dedicates a song to his mother on "I Honor U" featuring Jenny Fujita, but in a way that's original and true to who he is as a rapper. He also raps about a number conspiracy theories on "Channel Zero"  . At 13 tracks and a total running time of just over 48 minutes, the album is on the short side. I'd like to have seen Canibus expand his subject matter to include storytelling in his songs. Reply Notify me Helpful.

The production reeks of old and stale technique, the album is produced like an old rock record. It’s muddy, it’s weak, and it’s plain embarrassing for any modern hip hop producer.

Prior to the release of his debut album, Canibus had a hit with "Second Round . " a single that attacked LL Cool J in a style reminiscent of classic '80s cutting contests. It was an audacious beginning to what appeared to be a promising career, but the full-length album Can-I-Bus doesn't quite live up to the potential indicated in that hard-hitting single. Part of the problem is that Canibus is a monotonous rapper, sticking to the same delivery no matter what the subject of the lyrics or the tone of the music. He also shows surprising misogynist, violent, and homophobic.

However, listen to the album with fair expectations, and you'll enjoy i. David Browne, writing for Entertainment Weekly, praised Canibus for being able to go beyond the battle rapper image and show versatility in his topics but found the production a hindrance to his goal, concluding that "His devotion to the lyrical slam and to self-respect earmark Canibus as a.

Mostly known as a solo artist he also has been a member of The HRSMN, . Sharpshooters, Cloak N Dagga the Undergods and Almighty. Canibus rose to fame in the acclaimed New York City rap scene the mid-nineties; although his album sales dropped off he developed a devoted cult following in the 2000s and has continued recording through 2016

Can-I-Bus Explicit Lyrics. Long a staple of the New York mix-tape scene, Canibus saw his impending debut get hyped for months. Maybe, though, there was too much buzz, and maybe it became more of a distraction than a confidence builder because, unfortunately, on Can-I-Bus, the silver-tongued (and sometimes -faced) MC is plagued not by a lack of rhymes-after all, " without lyrics is like a porn flick without sex," as he boasts on "Buckingham Palace"
