When this record was new and Tom Jones was at the top of his popularity women would throw their panties and hotel room keys on the stage. Now his manager from the time has revealed he put these women up to it as a publicity stunt. That being said, I suspect some of those keys did actually fit doors and I doubt he had any trouble getting a date then or now.

Tom Jones revels in MOR pop for this mostly fine 1969 long-player. The layered string and choral backdrop gets a soul update on "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" and Betty Everett and Jerry Butler's duet hit "Let It Be Me," as "Dance of Love"'s pelvic R&B makes for a quick glimpse of the singer's show-stomping energy
