Their Satanic Majesties Request is the sixth British and eighth American studio album by the Rolling Stones, released in December 1967 by Decca Records in the United Kingdom and London Records in the United States.

Their Satanic Majesties Request, despite moments of unquestionable brilliance, put the status of the Rolling Stones in jeopardy. They have been far too influenced by their musical inferiors and the result is an insecure album in which they try too hard to prove that they too are innovators, and that they too can say something new. The album is marred by poor production. In the past there has been a great gulf between production styles of the Beatles and the Stones.

Title: Their Satanic Majesties Request. Artist: The Rolling Stones. Format: Vinyl The rolling stones their satanic majesties request with 3-D cover stereo.

The set contains both the stereo and mono versions of every song, all newly remastered by Bob Ludwig, and Michael Cooper’s original 3-D lenticular cover photograph, featuring the band in peak psychedelic regalia. Their Satanic Majesties Request was recorded in pieces between February and October of 1967. It was a tumultuous period for the Rolling Stones – Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Brian Jones were arrested for drug possession, with Jones spending three weeks in a nursing home. The Stones’ original manager/producer Andrew Loog Oldham quit halfway through recording sessions, leaving the band to finish the album on their own.

Without a doubt, no Rolling Stones album - and, indeed, very few rock albums from any era - split critical opinion as much as the Rolling Stones' psychedelic outing. Many dismiss the record as sub-Sgt. Pepper posturing; others confess, if only in private, to a fascination with the album's inventive arrangements, which incorporated some African rhythms, Mellotrons, and full orchestration.

Their Satanic Majesties Request is certainly a contemporary of The Beatles’ masterwork but it’s often looked at as the beaten-up bookend, or maybe the ugly fraternal twin. For just how well everything fit together on the Fab Four’s LP, nothing has ever seemed quite right about the Stones’ effort. This probably stems from the Stones’ hedonistic tendencies, which really started to ramp up in 1966 and 1967. Two songs about destinations kick off the revised B-side of this album. First comes the darkest moment on Satanic, The Rolling Stones’ paean to science fiction and space travel.

This is the first UK Mono pressing, with a dedicated Mono master. If you have "T2" in your matrix etching, or the matrix etching does not match this listing, you may have a stereo fold-down repress, (rather than an actual mono master). An easy give away is the beginning of track B2. A genuine mono master will begin with three bells before the song starts, but stereo and mono fold-downs will only have two bells. As far as I know, you can only find this genuine mono master in certain pressings. This UK one, the South African mono pressing... will keep searching
