Bob James and Earl Klugh's highly lucid, beautifully restrained One on One album helped pave the way for the so-called Smooth Jazz phenomenon of the 1980s and '90s.

Klughs first recording, at age fifteen, was on Yusef Lateefs Suite 16 and he played on George Bensons White Rabbit album and two years later, in 1973, joined his touring band.
