The Rat (Gazelle Twin Remix) World Eater Re-Voxed, a digital only release, began as an idea Ben Power, the musician behind the project, had while traveling the globe in support of his critically acclaimed 2017 release World Eater. He contacted some of the most interesting musicians and artists today, and asked them to imbue the tracks with their own sense of meaning . At the current moment, however, it may be hard to find much truth in Okay, Let’s Talk About Magic and Sweet Love for Planet Earth (both 2008 Fuck Buttons titles). The cover of Power’s latest Blanck Mass album seems to nod in agreement. World Eater finds one of electronic noise’s most popular and populist artists making his heel turn. But it’s a classic supervillain trick of lulling its victims with a disturbing, playful calm before unleashing indiscriminate destruction.
Just in case there were any doubts that electronic music can have as much of a political voice as other genres, Blanck Mass silences them with World Eater. Inspired by the shock and upheaval that surrounded Brexit and other nationalist political movements that emerged in 2016, Benjamin John Power transforms furious noise, drones, and the surprisingly danceable elements of Dumb Flesh into vivid portraits of division and turmoil that sound big enough to engulf a planet and intricate enough to consume it from within.
Personally, I think Blanck Mass' World Eater is a massively enjoyable experience to listen to, in fact it's been a while since I last enjoyed an electronic album this much. For some reason i've just been incredibly enamoured with this record since it came out and I haven't put it down at all. I've come to the conclusion that in my opinion, Benjamin uses repetition, clever pacing and hypnotic sampling to create an experience that is truly mesmerising.

World Eater (CD, Album). Sacred Bones Records, Sacred Bones Records. An incredibly epic, wondrous album, and a big leap forward for Blanck Mass. Gun to the head, the closer, "Hive Mind" will properly blow your mind as the gorgeous yet ominously apocalyptic finale.
Blanck Mass, the solo project of Benjamin John Power of Fuck Buttons, has announced a new album. On March 3, Power will release World Eater via Sacred Bones. The title, according to a press release, is a reflection of the state of the world today and the fraught political climate of hate and rancor. Being surrounded by so much hate in the world right now throws a whole new light on the importance of love, says Power in a statement. Blanck Mass has released a first single from the album, titled Please, which you can stream below, as well as take a look at the tracklist and album artwork. World Eater follows 2015′s Dumb Flesh.
