Dancing Undercover is the third studio album by American glam metal band Ratt, released in 1986. The album was produced by Beau Hill and contains the hit single/video "Dance", which appeared in the Miami Vice episode "Down For The Count". Two other videos were made, "Body Talk", which was used on the soundtrack for Eddie Murphy's film, The Golden Child, and "Slip of the Lip". It charted at No. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart and at No. 14 on Rolling Stone's Album Chart. The album went platinum.
Dancing Undercover's slightly disappointing chart peak of number 26 provided an early indication that things were not as they had once been (both of its predecessors had gone Top Ten), and when followed by similarly under-performing new singles "Dance," "Slip of the Lip," and "Body Talk," the decadence die was undoubtedly cast

Releasing their third album in as many years, melodic rock band Ratt dropped "Dancing Undercover" in 1986. This album is easily one of the most forgotten good albums of the decade, and how it doesn't garner more attention is beyond me. Ratt were like a machine in the early/mid-80s. These guys just kept releasing strong album after strong album, but never seemed to reach the crest of bands like Poison or Bon Jovi. The sound of the record is identical to the previous two, and this eventually led to the band dismissing producer Beau Hill. Dancing Undercover' is where the rips in the satin and silk first made their appearance. Though filler had reared its ugly head through much of the second half of & it pretty much proliferates album number three.
