More than 20 years later, the Black Crowes may not be releasing new albums anymore but the impact of their career is still resonating in the world of music. The most recent Crowes’ studio album featured several psychedelic tunes, but one song stands out amongst the 20 offered, and that’s the Dylan-esque, 'I Ain’t Hiding. With a funky bass beat and wicked guitars, the song's vibe is amplified with Robinson’s lyrics and vocals.

It reached on the Billboard 200 Top Albums chart. Two of its singles, "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels", reached on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. I ain't talkin' 'bout no lightweight, pennyante weekend warrior," singer David Roach declares; then he proceeds to scat, shriek and spit his way to oblivion. His rap about good-time habits veering out of control puts across a sullen, double-edged desperation accurately enough to give you the shakes, while the band's distorted guitars and churning, nearly arrhythmic punch never let up.

Album Shake Your Money Maker. She Talks to Angels Lyrics. She never mentions the word "addiction" In certain company Yes, she'll tell you she's an orphan After you meet her family. She don't know no lover None that I ever seen Yeah, to her that ain't nothin' But to me, it means Means everything. She paints her eyes as black as night now Pulls those shades down tight Yeah, she gives a smile when the pain come The pain gonna make everything alright. She talks to angels Says they call her out by her name Oh yeah, heah, angels Call her out by her name

So, the Black Crowes broke up. Again, that is, sort of. Since the band broke through with their 1990 debut, Shake Your Money Maker, it’s been a twisting and tumultuous path through a few hiatuses and constant lineup changes with members coming and going and returning, the kind of narrative most of us probably don’t have the time or interest to know inside and out. As much as the Black Crowes had recently come to sound like aged rock ‘n’ roll survivors, theirs was an existence that seemed on the precipice of collapsing at any given point. There were storm clouds on the horizon last fall
