Only 15 left in stock (more on the way). The original album finished with a Fedback session (the pre-runner of "Space"), followed by And We Bid You Goodnight. I've always been disappointed that this album's version of And We Bid You Goodnight was cut short (only :37 long). I was really hoping this remastered collection would feature the full song, but no such luck.
Summer’s here and we’re having the best time going down the road with Dead & Company.
Spread over two LPs, Live/Dead (1969) finally was able to relay the intrinsic sonic magnificence of a Dead show in real time. Additionally, it unleashed several key entries into their repertoire, including the sidelong epic and Deadhead anthem"Dark Star" as well as wailing and otherwise electrified acidic covers of the Rev.
Grateful Dead’s debut album failed to capture to eclectic, improvisational wonder of their live show and sold poorly. However, with the addition of second drummer Mickey Hart, their 1968 follow-up Anthem of the Sun fared slightly better. This all changed with their first live album, Live/Dead which accurately portrayed the Dead’s live show, and satisfied the band's devoted following, endearingly known as the Deadheads. After the Godchauxs’ dismissal in 1979 Grateful Dead released no new albums until 1987 despite remaining an incomparably popular live band. In the Dark released in 1987 became a surprise success for the group, turning Grateful Dead from a interesting cult phenomenon to a band worthy of critical acclaim.
