Ronnie Dunn's first independent album, 'Peace Love and Country Music,' isn't a wild departure from his previous solo album. It's aggressive, but not angry as some may have expected. Perhaps these aren't the adjectives he's looking for, but the disc is reliable, professional and curated to eliminate filler. Individual songs pack a little more sex appeal. In fact there's more gritty, snarling guitar on this album than you'll find on most of what comes out of Nashville
Ronnie Gene Dunn (born June 1, 1953) is an American country music singer-songwriter and record executive. In 2011, Dunn began working as a solo artist following the breakup of Brooks & Dunn. He released his self-titled debut album for Arista Nashville on June 7, 2011, reaching the Top 10 with its lead-off single "Bleed Red". In 2013, after leaving Arista Nashville in 2012, Dunn founded Little Will-E Records.
On June 6, 2013, Ronnie Dunn performed the two songs along with "Cowgirls Rock 'N Roll" and the title track from the album "Peace, Love, And Country Music" at the 2013 CMA Music Fest following the 2013 CMT Music Awards. On June 9, 2013, Ronnie Dunn announced his new record deal with indie label HitShop Records. Ronnie Dunn's indie debut on his own label, Peace Love and Country Music does a lot of things, but most of all, it proves that he still has one of the best voices in country music today. Whether it's the new, original tunes or the one solitary cover ("You Don’t Know Me," made famous by Ray Charles and Elvis Presley), he's putting his heart into it and making you feel each word. A project made with the fans in mind, Dunn even got their help with the song choices. Coming from a 60-year-old singer who has been around the block more than once or twice, the freshness and truth found on the album are refreshing to say the least. Let's face it - most 60 year olds are winding down and running life on cruise control after putting in 40 years of work instead of starting out fresh with the energy of a teen combined with the wisdom of a statesman.
