Album The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us. Bad Art & Weirdo Ideas Lyrics. It’s strange how really brilliant some people can be and just never know it. I wanted to remind her. I don’t know, Stephen Merritt said this thing once about there only being two types of Music that matter – pop and avant garde. This was me listening to way too much Jesus & Mary Chain and having a go at writing a loud pop song. I think maybe I even got some of it right.

A few stats on Beach Slang’s glorious and galvanizing debut album: in less than a half hour, it provides 10 righteous bursts of punk rock boosterism. All of them speak of being fucked up, being a fuck-up, or some combination of both. In seven of those songs, James Alex sings the word "alive," in three others, he sings "young," and there's one song called "Young and Alive". James Alex is 40, significantly older than the other three members of Beach Slang and about 15 years removed from his previous band’s disintegration. Too young to die, too late to die young," Alex sighs with superhuman earnestness over capoed acoustic guitar (and, since this is the ballad, cue the strings and pianos).

Beach Slang singer-guitarist James Alex hollers on his band’s excellent debut. In fact, this hard-luck kid is in his early forties. But that only makes his commitment to blustery, big-hearted punk-rock catharsis that much more heartening. It makes for an album that’ll definitely have a Calgon, take me away vibe for aging refugees of the 120 Minutes years. Alex, who did time in Nineties emo band Weston, never pushes his chainsmoker’s croak beyond adorable reenactments of well-worn punk rock anti-heroism ( The night is alive/It’s loud and I’m drunk, he sings on Noisy Heaven ). But there’s something refreshing about a bastard of old who doesn’t try to slow down his band’s headlong thwack with stubble-stroking musing on midlife malaise or clunky lit-seminar over-trying. For these guys, noise will always be enough.

Beach Slang 컬렉션을 완성하세요. I know that pop-punk is supposed to sound like that, but the bass is straight-up inaudible at normal settings on my setup (Pioneer PL-15D Mk. II/Marantz 2220/KLH AV33). Love the record, and the disc is very pretty, but I would stick to digital/CD as the best way to listen to this album. 2015년 11월 18일. 신고. 다음 참조: The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us, LP, Album, Ltd, Pur, BSM172V. As much as I liked the first compilation of songs taken from their first 7"'s, this new album ist quite boring. Well, not a bad record after all. It still is a good.

Album · 2015 · 10 Songs. Beach Slang’s first full length starts with a roar and ends 26 minutes later with the same, rarely letting up in-between. A huge, impassioned album that bridges punk energy and heartland rock ’n’ roll, The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us has as much in common with Cheap Trick and the Replacements as it does with contemporaries like Titus Andronicus and Japandroids-artists who pledge their sincerity and get dirty doing it. And as with the Replacements, it’s the band’s tender moments that hit hardest: Too Late to Die Young and the bittersweet Porno Love. The Things We Do To Find.

Beach Slang have managed to find a way to do both at once. We’re running loose in the streets, soaked on the outside, rotting on the inside. Our ears are ringing, our bodies are decaying. One of the best tracks on The Things We D. s Too Late to Die Young. No matter how loud you turn up your amps, no matter how much you rock, bro, odds are that your best, or at least most relatable, stuff is gonna come from a slower, sadder place. Just ask Jawbreaker (or, uh, Def Leppard). Live, Beach Slang reminded me of Jawbreaker
