Pharoahe Monch and Prince Poetry are even more commanding as lyricists on Stress, spinning out stories much closer to the nuts and bolts of the street than on their debut. But in typical fashion for such gifted artists, they probe the psychological implications of urban life rather than merely relaying its superficial qualities. In response, the album's sound is less eccentric without losing any of its innovation.

On Extinction Agenda, moving with the times, the group head in a more hardcore direction influenced by Black Moon and countless others. I miss the infectiously fun beats on their debut, I don't need the creepy, dark production on about these tracks. Nor do I need to hear rhymes about killing taxi drivers or choruses that go "Bring it on, MF, bring it o. Not from Organised Konfusion. I want to listen to Po and Monch rapping about hay fever, hypnotical gases, and hair cuts. That's just my opinion.

Despite huge critical acclaim, Organized Konfusion’s second album, Stress: The Extinction Agenda, was unfortunately buried under a myriad of other great hip-hop albums released that year, especially Nas’ classic Illmatic. Stress is slightly darker and less light-hearted than Organized Konfusion’s 1991 self-titled debut, removing the more poppy songs with a more down-tempo sound.
