The Spirit of '67 is the sixth studio album by American pop rock group Paul Revere & the Raiders. Produced by Terry Melcher and released in November 1966 by Columbia Records (CS 9395), and featured the singles Hungry, The Great Airplane Strike, and Good Thing. The album would be reissued on LP (with the title "Good Thing") by Harmony in 1977, by Sundazed on CD in 1996 (with three bonus tracks) and in 2015 by Friday Music on 180g clear red vinyl. Louie, Go Home" is a song written by Paul Revere and Mark Lindsay as a sequel to "Louie Louie" by Richard Berry. It was recorded by Paul Revere and the Raiders in 1963 and released in March 1964. Two versions of "Louie, Go Home" were issued. The original (with sax opening) was only released as a single. A re-recorded version (with guitar opening) was featured on the Midnight Ride album in 1966 as well as the group's first Greatest Hits compilation the following year.

There’s little not to like on this album, but then, the record is sheer entertainment and not art, around which the Raiders not only sold themselves, but countless products. That being said, the number Steppin’ Out was their breakout song, featured on the afternoon dance show hosted by Dick Clark, along with Where the Action Is, which featured the Raiders as the house band of sorts.
