Black & Blue is an album released by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes on the Philadelphia International record label in September 1973. It was produced by Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff. The album features the hit singles "The Love I Lost" and "Satisfaction Guaranteed (Or Your Love Back)". The B-side of "Satisfaction Guaranteed (Or Your Love Back)", "I'm Weak for You", also made the R&B chart. The album was remastered and reissued with bonus tracks in 2010 by Big Break Records.

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes. Led by the great Harold Melvin, they formed as early as 1954, but struggled for many years until they finally broke through in 1972, much thanks to then-new lead singer Teddy Pendergrass, whose powerful, expressive baritone, alternating between singing and screaming, counts as one of the most distinctive voices in soul music.

The group's roster for this album is Lloyd Parks, Teddy Pendergrass, Harold Melvin, Lawrence Brown and Bernie Wilson. The album was arranged by Bobby Martin, Norman Harris and Thom Bell. The album was remastered and reissued in 2003 by Sony Music Entertainment with a bonus track, a live 1973 recording of "If You Don't Know Me by Now".
