Album Name End Transmission. Labels Victory Records. Produced by McTernan Brian. Members owning this album9.

End Transmission is a furious, screaming menagerie of shouted vocals, punishing guitar, and throbbing drums. But it's also hardcore for the emotionally in-touch-you'd be hard pressed to find many Snapcase contemporaries who can spin a lyric as artful as "I remember the feeling, A vision of light and water combined. Granted, much of the nuance is lost in the howling delivery, but it's nice to know that those fists are pumping along to something meaningful. The fact that this album didn't get more exposure is unfortunate. Snapcase's earlier albums were decent but nothing that I would consider defining. When End Transmission came out I realized I was listening to a more polished band, maybe less raw aggression but more nuanced sound. I had bought the CD in 2003 but have no idea where it is now.

Snapcase are usually lumped in with more progressive hardcore acts, but it's not like they're Refused. Once in a while, they chooga rather than chugga, and that's somehow enough to make them "avant" for genre purists. Once in a while, I think I hear the old Snapcase peeking out from within the glossy shell of End Transmission, twisting like the groovy paintings that once graced the band's album covers, now sadly- but appropriately- replaced by slick, blandly futuristic schematics. But before nostalgia can set in, the ravening demons of production swoop in, snatching Snapcase in their filthy jaws: Daryl Trabeski's reedy yowl is swallowed up in multi-tracking or effects, and guitars that threaten to rip are all but absorbed in a dense, featureless wall of sound.

Sadly, Snapcase have split up earlier this year but on this album they were: Daryl Taberski - Vocals Frank Vicario - Guitar Jon Salemi - Guitar Dustin Perry - Bass Ben Lythberg - Drums. Boysetsfire aren't a bad comparison really, and neither are Thrice. Except on this album Daryl doesn't have a separate singing/shouting voice like Nathaniel Gray, instead treating you to just over 45 minutes of mostly passionately shouted vocals, a little on the high pitched range maybe, without the low menacing growl of Jeffrey (Poison the Well) but not lacking in ferocity.
