The Wee Hours Revue is the major label debut album by American alternative rock band Roman Candle, released in 2006. Many of the songs were reworked from their debut recording Says Pop, which was released in 2002 via a small independent label, Outlook Music, run by NFL defensive end Trevor Pryce. The band was later signed to a contract by Hollywood Records, who paid to re-record their album but set it on the shelf for two years before dropping the band altogether

North Carolina five-piece Roman Candle ended up sitting on their debut album for a lot longer than most folks would been willing to tolerate; the bulk of The Wee Hours Revue was cut in 2002 for an upstart indie label under the title Hey Pop, with an overhauled version finally seeing a proper release through V2 in 2006. However, the results were worth the weight.

The Wee Hours Revue is the major label debut album by American alternative rock band Roman Candle, released in 2006. 1 Background and production. The album was recorded predominantly in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, at Chris Stamey's studio, Modern Recording. The thirteen tracks were mixed by a host of mixer-producers, including Tony Hoffer, John Alagia, John Agnello, John Plymale, Chris Stamey, and Tim Harper.

Roman Candle was founded in 1997 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band, who all attended UNC-Chapel Hill, recorded and performed there for 10 years before moving to Nashville, TN in 2008. Even as late after the release as April 2007, Harp Magazine, journalist Mark Kemp named The Wee Hours Revue One of the best roots-rock records of the decade.

During the time The Wee Hours Revue was being shelved by Hollywood, country singer Thad Cockrell, gave a copy of the record to BBC Radio 2 DJ Bob Harris (radio). He called the record, on the air, one of the best rock and roll records he'd heard in years. Harris has since invited RC to play on his show, multiple times. Chicago (band) - Chicago Chicago in 2004 (L R): Keith Howland, James Pankow, Bill Champlin, Walt Parazaider, Tris Imboden, Lee Loughnane, Robert Lamm (view blocked) and Jason Scheff.

The Wee Hours Revue is actually a reworking of their debut, Says Pop, with one additional track. The compositions have changed slightly (according to them, I haven’t actually heard the original) and the tracklisting has been mixed up, but the songs are essentially the same. The true gems come around the middle of the album including the renamed New York This Morning, (which was once I Wish I Was in New York ) sounding like a mashup of Otis Redding and Bob Dylan, and being a fitting lonely tribute to the city that never sleeps. Roman Candle’s story is a lesson in believing in your dreams. Not everyone can be & but talent always wins out in the end. So, break out the fireworks, Roman Candle has arrived.
