Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque is a collection of previously published short stories by Edgar Allan Poe, first published in 1840. It was published by the Philadelphia firm Lea & Blanchard and released in two volumes. The publisher was willing to print the collection based on the recent success of Poe's story "The Fall of the House of Usher". Even so, Lea & Blanchard would not pay Poe any royalties; his only payment was 20 free copies.

Jeopardy is the debut studio album by English post-punk band the Sound, released on 1 November 1980 by record label Korova. The album fared poorly commercially, but received critical acclaim. One single, "Heyday", was released from the album. Following their 1979 EP Physical World, the band started work on a full-length album. Impressed by the rough mixes, Korova signed the group.

The Sound of Music is a musical with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. It is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. Set in Austria on the eve of the Anschluss in 1938, the musical tells the story of Maria, who takes a job as governess to a large family while she decides whether to become a nun. She falls in love with the children, and eventually their widowed father, Captain von Trapp

The album is marked by a thematic preoccupation with degenerate art (Entartete Kunst).

This later-period Fall album showed that Smith hadn’t yet run out of ideas. The album featured more electronic accents, and rock-hard riffing. The dangerous goth swing of Mountain Energei brought to mind Depeche Mode in their prime, except Smith spins out baffling lines about Dolly Parton and patriotism. 8. Slates/A Part of America Therein (1981).
