the album was perceived as proving that the band's sound, guitars-as-bagpipes, courtesy of the E-Bow, was a one-time novelty, while Stuart Adamson's lyrics, full of British socialist working-class fervor, seemed jingoistic and pretentious. Nevertheless, much of the music, as on the first album, made for stirring rock & roll.
The Seer is the third studio album by the Scottish band Big Country, released in 1986. The album featured very traditional Scottish musical settings, reminiscent of the band's debut album The Crossing (1983). Kate Bush worked on the title song in a duet with lead singer and lyricist Stuart Adamson. The album's first single, "Look Away", was an Irish number one, and was also the group's biggest hit single in the UK, reaching The album reached number 2 in the UK Albums Chart.

Here I stand with my own kin At the end of everything Finaly the dream is gone I've had enough of hanging on. I came here with all my friends Leaving behind the weight of years Leaving alone in a flood of tears Out on a prospect that never ends. All the landscape was the mill Grim as the reaper with a heart like hell With a river of bodies flowing with the bell Here was the future for hands of skill. We built all this with our own hands But who could know we built on sand? Now it's barren all to soon There is no miracle in ruin
The album notes that there are 7 previously unreleased tracks, all of them denoted as either works in progress or rough mixes. You can’t go wrong with Big Country’s Steeltown. 2 people found this helpful. Not as rousing or fun as their first album, definitely a darker tone, but still a solid release for Big Country. Come Back to Me is a real tear jerker. Did not care for the Wonderland 12" mix at all, ended up downloading the original.
