The Proclaimers are a Scottish music duo composed of twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid (born 5 March 1962). They are best known for their songs "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)", "Sunshine on Leith", "I'm On My Way" and "Letter from America", and their singing style with a Scottish accent. The band tours extensively throughout the world. They have released 11 studio albums since 1987, with the latest being The Angry Cyclist (August 2018), as well as three compilation albums and a DVD. The Proclaimers. The Proclaimers on stage in June 2008. appearing in the movie Benny & Joon. After seven low-profile years, they released their comeback album Persevere in 2001. In March 2007 they recorded a new version of "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" with television comedy characters Andy Pipkin (played by Matt Lucas) and Brian Potter (Peter Kay) for the Comic Relief charity.

More than eight years after the Proclaimers had a surprise hit with "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," the Scottish duo released Persevere in 2001. The album's first single, "There's a Touch," has the same goofy charm of "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," as do other tracks on the album such as "Land Fit for Zeros. Casual fans of the group may have forgotten or never known of the group's political edge, but that edge is present on "Scotland's Story" and "Everybody's a Victim

The Best of the Proclaimers is a compilation album by Scottish band The Proclaimers released in 2002 and re-released in 2007. Three tracks ("The Doodle Song", "Ghost of Love", and "Lady Luck") were newly recorded for the compilation. The album's sleeve notes were written by the comedian and Proclaimers fan Matt Lucas.
