Tomorrow's Harvest is the fourth studio album by Scottish electronic music duo Boards of Canada, released on 5 June 2013 by Warp. The duo began composing and recording the album following the release of The Campfire Headphase in 2005 and the expansion of their studio at Hexagon Sun near the Pentland Hills. They continued recording intermittently until late 2012, when large parts of the album were recorded.
Though demanding repeated listens, Tomorrow’s Harvest distinguishes itself by making intense commitment (. What’s the better way to enjoy it, headphones or stereo, broken-up side listens on vinyl vs. one full immersive CD spin?) a welcome task for the summer of 2013.
Clearly inspired by film soundtracks, Tomorrow's Harvest is heavy on atmosphere and richly textured drone. Sounds like Boards of Canada. In the early years of this century, you heard many electronic music aficionados using that phrase, usually in the context of an endorsement. The Scottish brothers Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin didn’t invent a new sound, but they did take various strands of music floating around and pull them into one place and essentially perfect them.
This album features in the top ten albums of 2013. While Boards of Canada need little introduction, it didn’t stop them mounting a tantalising album teaser campaign of codes and whispers for ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’, their first major release in eight long years, which happily delivered musically amidst a storm of hype. A far cry from the blissed-out guitar washes that characterised its immediate predecessor ‘The Campfire Headphase’, the album focused the mysterious duo’s palette upon a depiction of technological apocalypse glimpsed from a murky distance.

While this might not sound particularly exciting on paper, the consistent excellence of Tomorrow's Harvest is as comforting as a collection of quietly menacing android fever dreams like these could possibly be. Track Listing.
listen to the new Boards Of Canada album, Tomorrow's Harvest. It's a fitting way to listen to a record by a band whose obsessive fans are something of a cult, and one so devoted that they would drink poisoned Kool-Aid if Marcus or Mike Sandison (the brothers BOC) said it tasted good. Once we leave the confines of WARP HQ, we're not allowed to talk about it. Not even to our nearest and dearest. We can't even say we were here. The first rule of BOC Album Playback Club is you don't talk about BOC Album Playback Club – until the embargo is lifted
