Pol - Transomuba (CD, Album, dig). Label:Music Avenue Cat 250128.

Vatra (English: Fire) is the fifth studio album by the Yugoslav and Bosnian heavy metal band Divlje Jagode. The album was recorded at Studio RTV Sarajevo, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from November to December 1984, and mixed at Music Paark Studio in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany on February 1985 and was released in April 1985. It was the first time that Alen Islamović make an album just as vocal as he was before and vocalist and bassist also.

Reissue of this album by this group that included C-Schulz, Marcus Schmickler & Christoph Kase.

Primary Artist, Composer.

Brüsseler Platz-10a-Musik, Agentur Bilwet 1000 Fehler, Supposé, 1996.

POL are German composers Marcus Schmickler, Carsten Schulz and Christoph Kahse. They have released 2 albums: Transomuba (1994), where they mix field recordings, world- and techno music and even some metal bits; a soundtrack to the film Baby I Will Make You Sweat (1995) by Birgit Hein. POL did perform in renowned venues such as Luxx in New York City, WMF in Berlin, Batofar in Paris, Luxclub in Lisbon, or the Discotheque in Barcelona.

German composer Marcus Schmickler first came to prominence as a member of POL, the project formed by Carsten Schulz (C-Schulz) that released Transomuba (1994), that mixes field recordings, world and techno music, and Baby I Will Make You Sweat (1995), the (vastly inferior) soundtrack to a movie.

Opinions are mixed here at MJHQ. Liz took an instant dislike to this, one of the most commercial albums I have yet received. I think the semi-THE THE chant of the opening track sounded too much like "I Am A Marble" for her to take the remaining, quality recording seriously. I on the other hand like the amalgam of ethnic 'Tribal' chants, traditional easy listening Jazz rhythms and Techno and Trance backings which never seem to take centre stage, but remain beneath the easy rhythms as a central spine. They vary the structure enough never to venture anywhere near 'boring'. Lots of (What sounds like) nonsense chants throughout give this album enough of an international feel to appeal to a wide range of people. It doesn't push walls, but neither does it pretend it wants to. Think of the likes of latterday MASSIVE ATTACK, perhaps a less egoistic MATERIAL and perhaps even DUNKELZIFFER or FAITHLESS. The closing track reminds me a lot of something be ASH RA which kinda spins things in another direction altogether.Originally reviewed for Soft Watch.

"one of the most commercial albums I have yet received" - there is nothing even remotely commercial about this album ..hard to take your review seriously after reading that.

I suppose this is the best album of the last decade of the last century. The strong krautrock influences give the experimental/industrial backround of the protagonists an immense drive which could hardly be described. The lyrics in an artificial language, the clustered melodies, the hardrock guitar and drumset and the overwhelming existence of essential drones make a never heard before mixture of classic psychedlic rock and postmodern deconstructed music. It is a timeless conceptional album and sets its own mark. No alternative is seen until now....
