Levitation is the tenth studio album by English space rock group Hawkwind, released in 1980. It peaked at No. 21 on the UK Albums Chart. At the time of its release, band leader Dave Brock stated: "with Levitation we’ve come full circle back to the style of our debut album
Hawkwind is the self-titled debut album by Hawkwind, released in 1970, originally on Liberty Records, later reissued on Sunset Records. This album is historic since it is one of the first space rock LPs. The Pretty Things guitarist Dick Taylor, who was looking for a new venture after leaving the band, was pulled into Hawkwind playing some gigs and producing this album. After several unsuccessful attempts to capture the band's sound in the studio, it was decided simply to record it live in the studio.

The album consisted of two discs: an LP which was recorded during the group's 1980 Levitation tour; and a 12" EP recorded at their June 1984 appearance at the Stonehenge Free Festival. The group's line-up had changed by their June 1984 appearance at the Stonehenge Free Festival, with guitarists Dave Brock, Huw Lloyd-Langton and saxophonist Nik Turner remaining, Harvey Bainbridge switching from bass to keyboards. They were joined by bassist Alan Davey and drummer Clive Deamer, although Danny Thompson deputised for Deamer on the Stonehenge recording. Bring Me the Head of Yuri Gagarin is a live album by English rock group Hawkwind released in 1985 consisting of a performance at the Empire Pool, Wembley on 27 May 1973. This is a poor sound quality audience recording licensed by Nik Turner.
Hawkwind - Stonehenge, UK LP Live 1980/1984 This is Hawkwind Do Not Panic Overall, for a live album, the production, while not great, is more than acceptable. If you are interested and have not heard Space Rock with all it's attendant psychedelic nuances, this may be a good place to start.
Despite taking its title from the classic Space Ritual-era "Sonic Attack," the bulk of This Is Hawkwind, Do Not Panic dates, in fact, from a full eight years on, as the revived band sold out a string of . theaters in the run-up to Christmas 1980, including this show at London's Lewisham Odeon. By the standards that Space Ritual set, of course, This Is Hawkwind is little more than an average live album. By those standards established by the myriad other live Hawkwind albums one could choose from, however, it is one of the best, in terms of both sound and performance.
