Foehammer unleash mammoth doom on earthquaking, massive debut collection ‘Second Sight’. Doom is one of, if not the most, interesting sub-genres of metal’s entire universe. It can be played so many ways, with most of its followers willing to feast from its teats no matter the content . eatmeadmetal. Have some good and bad news regarding the Foehammer LP. The good news is that we’ve got the full album stream lined up for next week, so stay. The bad news is that we’re going to miss the 4/6 release date for the vinyl. We’ve had some major issues at the plant with the etching for the d-side.

Foehammer by Foehammer, released 07 April 2015 1. Final Grail 2. Stormcrow 3. Jotnar "a great offering of slow, fuzzy funeral doom that’s bound to shake your speakers and probably your skeleton as well. DCHM "these guys are super fucking slow. This is stripped, foul, stinking doom trudge played with little trickery other than amps and riffs. Invisible Oranges "some of the darkest, most foreboding sounds the doom genre can offer. Foehammer as a musical entity merges punishing sludge metal with death doom's glacial pace. as is crystallised perfectly on momentous album closer, The Seer. Their gritty tone and doomed, dirge-like tempos make for a riveting dichotomy; at times, it’s low and sinister enough to suffocate a listener, then elsewhere, the relatively ambient reprieves allow moments of respite.

1) Foehammer is a funeral doom band from Annandale, Virginia. Their debut full-length is due out in spring 2015 on Grimoire Records and Australopithecus Records. 2) FoeHammer is a four peice metal band from Windthorst, TX. I first learned of Foehammer when Islander posted a Miscellany roundup that included them (here). That post introduced Foehammer with a song called Stormcrow, one of the names of Gandalf from Tolkien mythology. In the Tolkien universe, King Théoden christens Gandalf with that title because his arrival usually bodes ill for the denizens of Théoden’s kingdom. And the Tolkien references don’t stop there. The name Foehammer comes from a translation of Glamdring, a sword which proves most deadly in Gandalf’s employ.
