The Pacific Jazz Collecti. has been added to your Cart. This collection, spanning four CDs, containing in completion over five hours of music, collates Gerry Mulligan s output for the Pacific Jazz label. Featuring nine original releases, all remastered to the highest possible quality and spanning from his earliest 10 records for the label to his final albums put out by their World Pacific arm - contained within are some of the most important records in the development of West Coast jazz, a selection that has guided and informed this sub-genre since. Gerry Mulligan played piano as well as tenor saxophone. This rare album appears here as part of disc three, so obviously I bought the set and have discovered the other remarkable jazz on offer. Disc one, which includes the Paris Concert of 1995, contains over 80 minutes of beautiful music - and that's just the start.

Comfort Freedom Hanging Out Small Gathering. The Pacific Jazz Quintet Studio Sessions. During the 1960s, the Jazz Crusaders were one of the definitive soul-jazz/hard bop groups, a quintet that had a distinctive trombone-tenor sax front line and an openness to a variety of influences including Memphis soul, R&B, pop, and a bit of John Coltrane. The four permanent members of the group - trombonist Wayne Henderson, tenor saxophonist Wilton Felder, pianist Joe Sample, and drummer Stix Hooper - knew each other since childhood and first played together as part of the marching band of Phyllis Wheatley High School in Houston in the mid-'50s
