Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser" (English: "God Save Emperor Francis", lit. "God save Francis the Emperor") is a personal anthem to Francis II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and later of the Austrian Empire. The lyrics were by Lorenz Leopold Haschka (1749–1827), and the melody by Joseph Haydn. It is sometimes called the "Kaiserhymne" (Emperor's Hymn)

Franz Marszalek (born August 2, 1900 in then Breslau, Schlesien, Germany, now Wrocław, Silesia, Polen; died October 28, 1975 in Cologne, Germany) was a German conductor and composer, who was a leading figure in operetta. He began his studies in Wrocław, and moved to Berlin in 1933. He conducted the Cologne Radio Orchestra from 1949 to 1965, with an emphasis on operetta music. Künneke's graceful music is distinguished by its rhythm and striking harmonies. His best-known work is the 1921 operetta Der Vetter aus Dingsda; many of his songs are still familiar today. In 1926, when his operetta Lady Hamilton was premiered in Breslau (now Wrocław), he formed what would become a long friendship with the conductor Franz Marszalek.

Franz Marszalek is the expert conductor. This CD is described as " for clarity and "truth in advertising" because the overture is shortened and there are some bits omitted but, at 70 minutes, this is almost the complete score!!
