Sonic Animation (stylised as sonicanimation) are an Australian dance, techno musical group; formed in Melbourne by Steve Bertschick as a DJ, Adrian Cartwright on drums, keyboards and programming with canadian born Rupert Keiller on lead vocals and programming in 1994. Their debut studio album, Silence Is Deafening, was issued on Azwan Transmissions in May 1997. All the tracks were written, produced and engineered by Sonic Animation using a 386 computer. Bertschik left the group in 1998 to "pursue his own musical interests  . Defective Perspective was released on February 9 2004 and is the band's fourth studio album, which provided the singles, "This Is not a Love Poem" and "Get Up". Sonic Animation announced their break-up in mid-2005 with the release of compilation album, Eleven (September 2005), which appeared on the ARIA Dance Albums Chart top 25. It was followed by the Bugger Off tour. They made their last festival appearance at the Big Day Out in 2006 (Australian shows only).

Perspective is the second studio album by the guitarist Jason Becker, released independently on May 21, 1996, through Jason Becker Music and reissued on May 22, 2001, through Warner Bros. According to Becker's web site, the album features "Steve Perry, Michael Lee Firkins, Matt and Gregg Bissonette, Steve Hunter, members of Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra and members of the San Francisco Girls Chorus. This is the first album in history released by a person affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Defective Perspective (9 February 2004) is the band's fourth studio album, which provided the singles, "This Is not a Love Poem" and "Get Up". "This Is not a Love Poem" was based on lyrics by Philip Norton. Leasa de Klerk of InTheMix felt that the two CDs provided a "sheer variety of styles and sounds that are on the. album. The album will be released in August 2005 through Inertia. Their combined diverse musical fashion, lyrical wit and a quirky sense of humour has created the up-beat music that Australian audiences have come to love. The duo behind Sonicanimation are Rupert Keiller and Adrian Cartwright. They began their recording career together with their first independent white label 12-inch release, ‘Time is an Illusion’. Since then the band has released four albums, Silence is Deafening in 1997, Reality by Deception in 2002 and Defective Perspective in 2004, and Orchid for the Afterworld in 1999 which reached gold sales status, as well as three EPs and numerous 12-inch singles. Eleven will be the final album release from Sonicanimation. Their album launch tour in September will be their final ‘headline’ tour (with the possibility of some festival dates in summer) and these shows will be the last opportunity for fans to get up close and personal. In a nutshell, sonicanimation are arguably one of Australia’s pioneering premiere live/crossover electronic acts. Sonicanimation’s fame was fuelled by the gigantic furry creatures that originally featured in the video for Theophilus Thistler. Named Robert Rollie and Theophilus Thistler, these furry costumes have appeared on stages all around Australia  .
