The Passio secundum Joannem or St John Passion (German: Johannes-Passion), BWV 245, is a Passion or oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach, the older of the surviving Passions by Bach. It was written during Bach's first year as director of church music in Leipzig and was first performed on April 7, 1724, at Good Friday Vespers at the St. Nicholas Church. The structure of the work falls in two halves, intended to flank a sermon.

Bach: St. John Passion, BWV 245, Part One - "The Band Then, Together With the Captain" - Sir Peter Pears, Wandsworth School Boys Choir, English Chamber Orchestra, Бенджамин Бриттен.

Of the numerous recordings on the market of Bach's St. John Passion, BWV 245, it seems safe to say this is one of the most unusual.

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750): St. John Passion, BWV 245, Part One. 1 1. Chorus: -Herr, unser Herrscher- 11:09. There are few Bach performances on record as compelling as this. Richter's direction evinces a profound understanding of how Bach's theological convictions informed his musico-dramatic treatment of the Passion story. John Passion (. .has been added to your Cart.
