The Night is the fifth and final studio album by the alternative rock band Morphine. Jerome Deupree, the band's original drummer who had earlier quit due to health problems, rejoined alongside Billy Conway, thus making The Night Morphine's only album as a quartet rather than a trio

After a few personnel changes the band set about gigging up and down the UK. Their explosive shows caught the eye and ear of music producer Chris Nagle, whom recommended that his friend and sometime employer Rob Gretton check them out. Gretton discovered and managed Joy Division many years before and had gone on to work with Tony Wilson, partnering him in the famous Hacienda night club.
