Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra Conducted By Martin Sieghart - Antonio Vivaldi - The Four Seasons (CD, Album).
Under the direction of Martin Sieghart, with the Bruckner Orchester Linz playing its soul out, Schmidt's last symphony becomes every bit the incredible composition it is. And with Chesky's High Resolution Technology recording, the CD is easily demonstration class quality. The Three Orchestral Movements of 1862 by Bruckner (1824-1896), pale by comparison. These are youthful, seedling works. Lots of fluff, little substance, and useful for those curious Brucknerians. His March in D minor is even less interesting, also 1862. Oh, sure, we hear possibilities to come, and that's fine,.
The Bruckner Orchester Linz is an Austrian orchestra based in Linz. Particularly associated with the music of Linz-Land native Anton Bruckner, the orchestra is the concert orchestra for the state of Upper Austria, and also the opera orchestra at the Landestheater Linz (Upper Austrian State Theatre). Consisting of 110 musicians, the orchestra participates in the Bruckner Festival, the Ars Electronica Festival and the Linzer Klangwolke.
Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 in E major (WAB 107) is one of his best-known symphonies. It was written between 1881 and 1883 and was revised in 1885. It is dedicated to Ludwig II of Bavaria. The premiere, given under Arthur Nikisch and the Gewandhaus Orchestra in the opera house at Leipzig on 30 December 1884, brought Bruckner the greatest success he had known in his life. The symphony is sometimes referred to as the "Lyric", though the appellation is not the composer's own, and is seldom used.
BRUCKNER ORCHESTER LINZ The Bruckner Orchester Linz is the state orchestra of the Austrian province of Upper Austria. With its 110 musicians it is not only the opera orchestra at the Upper Austrian State Theatre, the Landestheater, in Linz but also the concert orchestra for the State of Upper Austria.
