These sides, released between 1967 and 1975, are neither Brunswick's most successful nor unsuccessful releases. The only song here that failed to chart nationally is Jackie Wilson and the Chi-Lites' forgotten collaboration "Don't Burn No Bridges," a good song that wasn't well promoted.

Chicago (sometimes referred to as Chicago II) is the second studio album by Chicago-based American rock band Chicago. Like their debut album, Chicago Transit Authority, this was a double album. It was their first album under the name Chicago (the band's prior name, Chicago Transit Authority, was changed due to a threatened lawsuit from the Chicago Transit Authority) and the first to use the now ubiquitous cursive Chicago logo on the cover

Sometime after the Universal Robot Band and sometime before where we are now, a pair of s, Pete Adarkwah and Ben Jolly, ran a successful club night named after our eponymous song, playing a joyful mix of all they considered good. Wouldn't it be fun,' they mused, 'To release some of these tunes?' And so BBE (Barely Breaking Even) was born.

Chicago has always been a place that had talented musicians. It has been a hub for soul, funk, blues, and jazz for generations. The significance of the Real Sound of Chicago release in disco compilation terms is that many Chicago private disco labels never made it out of the city. That is why in many cases the records here are higher priced on a collectors market generally. Some Chicago artists never had the resources to have their music distributed properly on a global scale

V/A "Chicago Soul Uprising! The Real Sound Of Chicaco. In all, a better album than the disappointing "Chicago III", but still somewhat below the band's initial achievements. The tracks which are memorable here are so because of their commercial appeal; their catchiness if you will. The early (in the album) lapses into improvisation are mistakes in my view, although these are more than compensated for by some superb big sound brass. While the fifth album still holds some superb Chicago-signed tracks, one can only be slightly disappointed by the AOR influence creeping its head out front, and that despite being a single disc, the presence of some weak tracks is a bit alarming. Nevertheless 5 remains a good album, but is nowhere near as essential as its predecessors.
