referencing Passing Through, CD, Album, DONE021CD. Brilliant Techno album, suiting both the cosy couch and the sweaty dancefloor. The melodic content is kept well diverse too, with melancholic detroitish synth squeals alongside beautiful uplifting chord progressions and driving basslines covering all the Belleville Three's trademarks in the low end. Very classic sounds and drums, but with all the phatness and technical twists you'd expect from a 2002 release.

Dedicated floor rockers include the moody/mystical shuffled jazz of "3 And A Half" and "Past - Present - Future", while "The Man From Heath" might appeal to admirers of Fabrice Lig. The wonderful lush deepness of "Across The Water" calls to be mixed with Steve Rachmad's tunes done under his Black Scorpion moniker. Some tracks like "Metropol" or "Back In The Old" skip the bass drum completely, only running on funky synth sequencing and lively electronic percussion, but still - these tunes simply make you want to move! Broom and Hill perfectly understand that when it comes to rhythm there's much more to it that just a big bass drum. What makes the tracks on "Passing Through" so good is that all the single elements give each other a grip, like pieces in a jigsaw, and contribute their part to the tracks as a whole, blending into a fabulous and dense body of music. Don't expect any simplistic looped floorfodder here. Instead, if you like slightly melodic Techno music with engaging grooves, expect a perfect album you'll surely treasure.
