Things Haven't Gone Well was written by Tanner while he crashed at Harvey Milk s vocalist and guitarist Creston Spiers house in 2010 in Georgia following the death of longtime friend drummer Jerry Fuchs (LCD Soundsystem, Turing Machine, !!!). Depression has always been the main theme in Harvey Milk and all that started when Jerry passed away. I didnt have a job, I didnt have anywhere to live, my girlfriend and I broke up. I stayed at Crestons house which was more depressing than anything, for 3 months

By the sound of things, they haven’t. It’s a strange album, which is often good but it’s hard on the ears too. There are no hooks as such, in fact much of the time the album sounds like a sound-check. Opener 91771, maybe gives a little promise. A momentous start as guitars rip and drums pound, the album starts with a dramatic opening, if a little long. The same theme continues into second track Premature Caesarean Removal Delivery and the album follows almost the same track throughout

Video: Music Blues - The Great Depression. View All. Primitive Man. Caustic. Released From Love, You, Whom I Have Always Hated. Madame X. 90. Baroness.

Things Haven’t Gone Well is the sound of a man at the tipping point. It’s exhausting, heavy and, if a scent were attached to it, would likely give off an unhealthy stench. The titles get progressively grimmer, while the sludgy riffs grow more heavy, more drone-y, seemingly lost as the man making the noise. The riff to Great Depression just seems to hang there and buzz painfully while the drums are in full caveman mode.

Things Haven't Gone Well. If Harvey Milk ever felt too uplifting and touchy feely to you, then Music Blues is exactly what you've been seeking. The first solo project of Harvey Milk bassist Stephen Tanner uses almost the same palette as his longtime band – slow, lumbering noise rock with the uneasy sense of falling off the rails at any moment – yet manages to sound bleaker and darker and more disheartened.

Looking to explore the darker, more depressing side of the world, Tanner looks to his own inner struggles for inspiration on Things Haven't Gone Well, his solo debut as Music Blues. Read full description. See details and exclusions. See all 12 brand new listings.
