Inside the Taj Mahal, the cenotaphs honoring Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan are enclosed in an eight-sided chamber ornamented with pietra dura (an inlay with semi-precious stones) and a marble lattice screen. But the gorgeous monuments are just for show: The real sarcophagi are in a quiet room below, at garden level. The odd placement has led many to believe he never meant to be buried there at all. The Taj gets regular facials. Age and pollution has taken a toll on the Taj Mahal’s gleaming white marble façade, which has turned brownish-yellow under the sooty conditions. Occaionally, the monument is given a spa day. Specifically, a mudpack facial called multiani mitti. This traditional recipe used by Indian women to restore radiance is applied, and then washed off with brushes, after which the Taj’s blemishes vanish, and its glow returns. It changes color throughout the day. (Seb c est bien, iStock).
The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan (reigned from 1628 to 1658), to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan, the builder. The tomb is the centerpiece of a 17-hectare (42-acre) complex, which includes a mosque and a guest house, and is set in formal gardens bounded on three sides by a crenellated wall.
In The New Seven Wonders Of The World list Taj Mahal, a mosque-mausoleum located in Indian city of Agra, takes a very important place. In spite of its Muslim origin this white marble necropolis became an actual symbol of India. Today we present the second part of our photopanoramas of Taj Mahal. There is even a barbed wire fence on the opposite shore of Jamuna River, which runs beside Taj Mahal. Security personnel totals hundreds of men. In January 2012 Dima Moiseenko, our photographer, went to Agra to meet the Superintending Archaeologist in charge of Taj Mahal and asked him how to get a permit to photograph Taj Mahal from air. Security is so tight in Taj Mahal that one cannot even enter with a tripod. But that wasn't the only issue: Dima was asked to hand over his lighter and cigarettes.

The Taj Mahal was constructed using the best quality marble from Rajasthan, Tibet, Afghanistan and China. At different times of the day the Taj Mahal appears to be in a different colour. Some believe that these changing colours depict the changing moods of a woman. The Taj Mahal is one of the wonders of the world and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There was a popular myth that Shah Jahan was planning to construct a black Taj Mahal across the Yamuna, this is not true . Hands were not cut of. false myth. Next you would day Mohammad Ali Jinnah was pious man. Shame on you sickulars. Jaiden Duff June 7, 2016 at 1:37 pm.
NO hand was chopped off after completion of Taj Mahal. India was ruled by monarchy not by anarchy and Mughals were known to be emperors who took pride in their justice. Chopping off the hands is a metaphor somehow got adopted literally. Sahajahan had deep interest in construction and he never thought of Taj Mahal as his ultimate creation. Immediately he managed to get some detol and pour it over the cuts and by the next day. the cuts in their hand eventually developed puss. which if not treated properly, becomes poisonous for our own body.
