As one of the artists who defined the sound of German electronic music in the 1970s and '80s, Klaus Schulze has a rich legacy, and in the early 2000s he released two sizable CONTEMPORARY WORKS box sets. Now it can be heard on its own in all its spacey, ambient glor, with the 15-minute bonus cut, Chinese Ears, for company.

Re-Release of the high acclaimed album Virtual Outback (originally released 2000 as part of the strictly limited and long exhausted 5-CD-boxset Contemporary Works II). Virtual Outback was just one single track: the elegiac 65 minute The Theme: The Rhodes Elegy, one of the most favourite of many Schulze fans. The bonustrack is from a filling work for the Chinese mass rally China Millenium on the occasion of the turn of millennium 200/2001. After Klaus' delivery the chinese government said: NO - WAY!

Virtual Outback' first saw the light of day back in the latter half of 2002 and featured as part of the Schulze 5 disc set 'Contemporary Works 2'. Originally the 'Virtual Outback' CD contained just a single extended piece from Klaus lasting some sixty five minutes, with this reissue we are presented with the welcome addition of a mightily rare/limited bonus track, making this album package a must have for most any Klaus Schulze collector

This set was released two years after Contemporary Works I. One of the discs has been reissued in 2008 as part of the overall reissue program of Schulze back catalog by Revisited Records, another two were released by MIG Music in 2016 and 2017, and another one in 2018. The first 333 copies of this set contained a bonus sixth disc. All tracks composed by Klaus Schulze.

Virtual Outback is a music studio album recording by KLAUS SCHULZE (Progressive ve Rock) released in 2008 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. The title Virtual Outback, according to Schulze, means nothing special but just sounds nice. The liner notes include a lot of interview-based text. One thing is sure indeed: Schulze's compositions seem to need more and more length, as he confesses.
